The Parks and Recreation Commission is currently advising on four projects:
- replacement of the park’s restroom (funded by a Oregon State Parks & Rec. Dept. grant)
- finding a way to minimize vandalism at the park’s viewpoint
- planning for the 2nd Annual Park Appreciation Day
- developing a proposal for a wetlands pond project that will be funded through Metro’s Greenspaces parks bond approved last November. We received $293,118 in local share funds.
Members of the Parks and Recreation Committee serve as advisors to the City Council on the development, operation and maintenance of city park facilities and recreation services for the public. The Committee’s responsibilities include recommending an adequate system of recreation areas and facilities, and reviewing the effectiveness of the City’s parks and recreation program in meeting the public need.
The Committee consists of one City Councilor, one Planning Commissioner, and five citizen members appointed by the City Council. Each member serves a two year term. The Committee meets as needed.
